ENR’s Best Projects competition in the Mountain States region featured more than 80 entries from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. Projects were judged on design and construction quality, their contribution to the community and industry practice, and how well teams overcame unusual challenges through collaboration and innovation by a panel of eight judges.

Project facts:

  • 695,767-sq-ft includes a 12-story office tower, three courtrooms, a Supreme Court Library, and an educational learning center that features interactive exhibits.
  • Documented metrics resulted in a 4.5%, or approximately $9 million, savings on overall project costs.
  • By using 3D virtual design & construction methods that included a building information model, the team ensured that conflicts were resolved before field installation. The project won an AIA award.

Project facts:
  • Offices and conference rooms mesh with basketball courts, exercise rooms and cafes to encourage a sense of community.
  • Adobe brought Okland Construction onto the team during preconstruction and planning in order to manage the budget, constructability and an extremely aggressive schedule.
  • Okland Construction developed creative, collaborative and flexible approaches to rigorous project demands. The fast pace meant that there was little time to evaluate, notify, price and discuss many options. This allowed tasks to be completed on time and within budget.
